Rise of Kingdoms Cleopatra Build, Review & Impressions

| |

The only Legendary female commander in Rise of Kingdoms (so far at least) is Cleopatra, and she’s a really tough one!

One of the best commanders when it comes to gathering resources quickly and with boosts to troop carrying capacity, she’s going to be our next focus in today’s review, where we’ll also share a general Cleopatra Build to make it easier for you to play the game.

I’m currently updating our database of Commanders and have already written about Cao Cao, Minamoto No Yoshitsune and Boudica and pretty soon I’ll have them all covered. Until then, here’s the beautiful Cleopatra in RoK:

Cleopatra is one of the best gatherers in Rise of Kingdoms, thanks to her Legendary status and great boosts the skills offer.

We’ll talk about them all in today’s guide, so let’s not waste any time and instead let’s find out more about this hero!

RoK: Cleopatra’s Skills

Being a Legendary commander, Cleopatra has 3 traits:

Integration (can lead armies composed of various types of units)
Gathering (she excels at gathering resources)
Support (Helps nearby troops and allies in battle)

Now, let’s check out her skills!

Queen of Kings: Heals slightly wounded units (nearby troops included) and increases their defense for 2 seconds. She starts with a base 150 healing factor, going all the way up to 400. Her defense bonus starts at 5% and goes all the way up to 15%.

Now, this is a good skill in theory, but not an amazing one for a dedicated gatherer.

Most likely, you will only use Cleopatra as a gatherer and not as a support (due to different skills needed for each role), so her starting skill can be considered generally useless for gathering purposes.

End of Ptolemy: This is her second skill and it’s better suited for a world class gatherer.

It gives her a speed bonus when gathering Stone (5%, up to 30%), as well as a slightly lower one when gathering other resources (3%, up to 20% at level 5).

Beauty and Wisdom: This increases the load of troops by 10% at level 1, all the way to 50% at level 5 – meaning that your troops will be able to carry more resources, so you will need to send fewer troops when gathering.

The Last Pharaoh: When gathering resources, Siege Units get a bonus attack and defense: 10% at level 1, all the way up to 50% at maximum level. This is useful for keeping her safe during potential attacks when gathering.

Gifts of the Nile: This is her expertise skill which unlocks automatically after all the previous skills are maxed at level 5 (so a lot of work or money required to get it!)

Once unlocked, it gives Cleopatra additional Resource Packs after she finished gathering resources from a resource point on the map.

Cleopatra Talents & Development

Despite her being advertised as a support, as well as a gatherer, I believe that you should only focus on Cleopatra’s gathering talents as her skills, except for the first one, are not created for active combat.

As you can see, I only got Cleopatra to level 21 and I am not planning to invest much in her anymore – her 4th skill is not really worth working so hard for, because you will rarely be attacked when gathering resources.

And even if you do, you will still have a tough time having a solid army with you, so you’re at all times easily defeated. So those XP packs for leveling her up can be easily spent elsewhere.

Back to her talents, I have her at level 21 right now and only invested points in her Gathering skill tree – because I am only planning to use her as a gatherer.

Thanks to her second skill, she’s fast when it comes to gathering stone mainly, so it’s easy to send her on multiple bouts daily.

Cleopatra Review – Closing thoughts

She is definitely a great commander when it comes to gathering resources and can even be used as a support – thanks to her starting Skill, if needed and no other options exist.

This is mostly useful, though, through the early stages of the game and only if you get her instead of other commanders that would do better as army leaders or supports.

Being such a mixed-specialization lady, despite her Legendary status and actually impressive skills and boosts, she’s not as good as other commanders in the game.

It makes no sense to build her as a support, so she would be pretty much worthless on that matter, while the fact that she’s not 100% dedicated to gathering makes her a secondary choice for resource gathering – only really useful if you don’t have any better options available or when you can start sending 4 armies to gather.

So what I recommend is getting her to her third skill and stopping there. You would still benefit a lot from the boosts, and you’d get to use the skill books on commanders that make a difference in battle (either attacking others or defending your castle).

Don’t waste too many statues on skilling her up either: there are better legendaries to work on!

What do you think about Cleopatra? Is she indeed the best gatherer in the game, or you prefer less rare heroes to do the gathering for you?
