If you’re looking to write an essay using Chat GPT and you don’t know how exactly to do it, I am here to help. Read on to learn how to write a perfect, amazing essay using ChatGPT’s AI. And it will only take you minutes!

Note: This article has been written 100% by an actual human.

I’m all for finding shortcuts and optimizing your time. When it comes to essay writing, you can easily optimize that with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

But if you have tried doing this already, you might’ve found that things are not as easy as some make them sound like.

Sure, you might be able to get the AI to generate an acceptable essay – but you might want something better. More accurate. And more difficult for teachers to guess that it was written by AI.

In order to do that, you will have to follow my recommended steps below. These will turn you into a master at writing prompts for Chat GPT (because that’s where the key is!) and you’ll be rewarded with better and better essays from now on.

So without further ado, here is how to write a flawless essay using ChatGPT.

1. Generate a catchy title

I would always start by generating a catchy title. Sure, in most cases you will have to follow the given title for your essay, but if you can get creative, Chat GPT will help.

Ask ChatGPT to provide you with a few catchy titles for your ideas. Choose the one you like the most and you’re set to go!

For example, if you must write an essay about the life of fish in the Arctic ocean, simply use a prompt like this: “Generate 5 catchy title ideas for an essay about the life of fish in the Arctic ocean”

Here’s what you would get. Pretty cool, right?

2. Generate an outline for your essay

Now that you have a great title, it’s time to break your essay into smaller sections by generating an outline.

Now, if you have to write a short essay (up to 500 words), then you can probably skip this step. But otherwise, it’s better to have ChatGPT generate an outline for your essay.

For example, if you have to write an essay about essay about the life and works of William Shakespeare, ask for this:

Write an in-depth, complete outline for an essay titled “The life and works of William Shakespeare”

If you want, you can go even more in depth and tell Chat GPT to generate 4, 6 or whatever number of chapters you want.

Based on this outline, we can start working on our perfect essay itself.

3. Write the perfect prompt

write the perfect prompt

Writing the prompt aka the request you give to the AI is probably the most important part of the creative process.

A good prompt is as in-depth as it has to be for the AI to FULLY understand what you want from it.

Sure, you might get a decent result if you ask “write an essay about life in high school”. But you should always think about giving more instructions to your AI to get a perfect, customized and unique response.

Remember: You can basically feed ChatGPT a prompt that’s a few paragraphs long and it will understand it and provide an answer based on all that text.

Without going that much in depth, a better prompt for the example above would be:

Write an essay about life in high school from the point of view of a freshman. Write using a funny, casual yet academic tone and make jokes here and there. Start writing about the positives about life in high school, then some of the potential negatives. Write it from the point of view of a freshman who is shy and not so popular.

Go as in depth as you have to in order to get the best results. Writing prompts is the most important part of your interaction with Chat GPT. Learn and experiment until you get it right.

If you don’t like the result that it is giving you, you can ask to rewrite the answer. When doing so, give it additional details, like: rewrite your answer from a different perspective or re-generate the answer using a more casual tone of voice.

4. Fine-tune for flawless text

The text generated by ChatGPT is pretty much amazing from the beginning, but it might always need some fine-tuning. Especially if a longer essay is required.

It might have no problem spitting a nice chunk of text if we’re talking about 300, 500 and even 1,000 words. But for longer, more complex things, you have to do it piece by piece to get the most out of it.

This is when the outline we’ve generated and point #2 comes in handy.

Instead of prompting the AI to write an essay on a given topic, work on it section by section. So if, in your outline, you have 5 sections, start with the first, continue with the second and so on.

Tip: Don’t start a new chat for each section. Use the same chat from start to end, as ChatGPT can understand that you’re talking about the same thing and will deliver better results

5. Always proofread, fact check and edit

Even though amazing, the AI is still not error-free. It can provide text that is factually incorrect, it might make grammatical errors and the text itself might not flow naturally (or even make sense) in some cases.

This is why it’s important to take the time and read the entire essay that was generated, check for the accuracy of facts if needed and edit as much as possible to make it even better.

You can use the AI itself for some of these tasks. For example, you can ask it to rewrite certain paragraphs, expand on them or ask them to paraphrase a given paragraph to get a different output.

6. Give it some personality

Ideally, you will manually edit the text and add to it some of your own personality and style. This is easier done when working with an existing text than starting from scratch.

But if you really don’t want to do this, you can ask it to rewrite some parts of the text using the tone of voice of a particular person. Think about people you enjoy reading or listening too (which are very famous also) and you’ll be surprised to see how good that will sound.

For example, you can ask ChatGPT to rewrite some of the paragraphs in the style of Gary V or Tony Robins or even crazy stuff like Gandalf, Yoda or other fictional characters.

These have to be very well known though for this to work.

7. Additional tips for writing the perfect essay

Following the steps recommended above will generate absolutely amazing essays on any topic.

Even better, it will take you a fraction of the time it would’ve taken you to research and write the entire piece yourself.

But here are some additional tips for writing a great essay with ChatGPT that you might want to consider if you want to finetune the result even more.

1. Do some research prior to starting. You can “feed” the AI links, text or your own headlines or ideas.

2. Make the essay relatable. Insert some personal stories or anecdotes to make it more fun to read, but also to make it sound like it was written entirely by you.

3. Write your own conclusion. This will not only make it more personal, but it will help you actually get something out of the essay itself.

At least write the conclusion yourself – you’ll be surprised to see that even this minor detail will help you get a lot more from the essay you’ve generated with AI.
