I know that this sounds very generic, but it’s a question that I get asked a lot: what beats what in Pokemon Go? And, well… that’s exactly what I plan to answer here, telling you what Pokemon have and advantage over what type of Pokemon, so you can easily plan your Gym battles and make sure that you get all the possible bonuses to bring down those Prestige levels and win all the Gyms in the world.
And it’s even easier than you probably think it is and you just need to know the basic rules. We have them here so without further ado, let’s check out below our guide on Pokemon Go: what beats what and what Pokemon are better against certain types of Pokemon.
The game works on the paper – rock – scissors mechanic, meaning that a certain type of Pokemon is strong against another and weak against a third type. Also, since there are so many types of Pokemon in the game, it also means that a specific type will have no effect against many others. But you need to know which Pokemon have a boost against other types in order to select them smartly for battles in the Gym.
So here is how things work – it might seem a bit complicated at first, but you will see that it’s really easy to remember all the data once you get into the game. If not, just bookmark this page and come back here for help whenever you need it!

This would be it! You know now what types of Pokemon are strong against what types (or weak against). However, have in mind that a Pokemon’s CP is also extremely important in this Equation and if there is a big CP difference between the Pokemon that are battling, the element powers will not be game changers: for example, a Charmander with a CP of 13 will have no chance of beating a Bulbasaur with a CP of 113.
