Mighty Doom: Best Abilities for a Perfect Run

| |

Choosing the best abilities during each run in Might Doom is extremely important – maybe even more important that choosing the best weapon for your Mini Slayer. And today, I am here to share with you the best abilities to choose to maximize your chances of winning.

Unlike with weapons, where you can choose what you bring into the game, there’s a lot of randomness when it comes to the abilities you will get to choose from during your runs.

Every time you level up, you will be presented with three choices and they will always be different. On top of that, they will also be influenced by the weapons and gear you have equipped.

So I can’t really create a list of the best to choose, since there are so many variables involved.

However, I will highlight below the best abilities to select in Mighty Doom in a more general way: some always have a chance to drop, and whenever those are available, you should choose them. So let’s not waste a single second and instead let’s check out the options we have!

Best Abilities in Mighty Doom

The best ability you can get in Mighty Doom is Ricochet. Always choose that whenever it is available: the sooner, the better. Ricochet is an ability that make your shots ricochet to other enemies, basically hitting twice.

Combine that with Spread Shot and Twin Shot (other two great abilities to get) and you will deal a TON of extra damage to your enemies, making it easier for you to complete all runs. Ideally, you will have all three.

Apart from these abilities related to the main weapon, I usually go for abilities offered by the gear you have equipped.

Usually, I will choose everything that makes my weapons better: Damage Boost is always a great ability to choose in Mighty Doom, as well as the one that increases Shoot Speed.

I generally stay away from selecting abilities for the secondary or third weapons, simply because I use those less often and it’s the main weapon and my character that I want to focus on. It has worked really well so far.

Finally, other abilities that you can select in case none of the above are available would be those increasing the Stagger chances (to get Glory Kills to heal your character) and those that increase the amount of health you get back from destroying staggered enemies.

So, to sum things up, the best abilities in Mighty Doom depend on the weapons and gear that you have equipped. Here is a list on those you should focus to get first (or whenever available):

  • Ricochet
  • Spread Shot
  • Twin Shot
  • Damage Boost
  • Shoot Speed Boost
  • Stagger Chance Increase
  • Health Gained Increase

I never choose abilities that increase maximum health, useless abilities like “First Impressions,” or abilities related to secondary and third equipped weapon. And this strategy had amazing results so far.

What ability to choose from the Night Sentinel

Apart from the abilities you get to choose when you level up during your runs, you also meet the Night Sentinel once per 10 stages and he offers a free ability: a complete heal of your character and a small boost (usually damage boost or shoot speed boost).

Never choose the health boost from the Night Sentinel in Mighty Doom, unless you are at less than 50% of your max health. Health is easier to replenish from staggered enemies. Instead, take the boost – whatever it is – as it is permanent and more useful for the remainder of the game.

The only time I would choose getting healed over the boost is right before the final boss battle, if my health is low. But even so, it’s probably better to just get the boost and hopefully heal your Slayer by the time it gets to the final battle.

Conclusion

Even though randomness is part of the game when it comes to getting abilities in Mighty Doom, some are better than the others and you know now which are my recommended ones.
